The Musical Selections Explanation
The Global Praying Servants Temple is for all and the desire is that all people will connect with it in some way. Music is a real important aspect of the setting and mood. The wish is that music from all defined religious and spiritual traditions around the world be represented here, but this would be impossible to do on one website due to limited bandwidth. Therefore, we have prayerfully and thoughtfully searched and obtained a sampling of the golden nuggets of inspiring spiritual and religious music time tested by tradition, created by gifted musicians, even music that grips the human soul and spirit. A blend of sacred instrumental and chant selections are on the play list. Chant, for example, is virtually universally recognized for the power of its spirituality and serenity in touching the human soul. In the words of Robert Gass, "chant is singing our prayers. Chant is vocal meditation" (Spirit in Sound Chant: The Best of World Chant CD). The sound that reverberates in the sacred space, including in the recording of the selections, is also an important experiential factor in the sacred music touching human souls. Again, the sampling has a couple pieces that may be considered generic spiritual, with their scope potentially universal, and some pieces that arose out of the religious traditions of Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, or New Age, but others may find helpful too. Together, they create a new sacred space here on this website, and our prayer is that your prayers or meditation will be joined with it to confirm it as truly a sacred place of human beings around the globe. We hope that you are truly inspired, touched, and helped in your prayers or meditations.
A note on translating for you the title of the first piece, for those who were not familar with it. "Kadosh" is the Hebrew word for "holy." It is used several times in the Tanak/Old Testament. This song is particularly based on the Isaiah ch. 6 verse 3 passage, in which Isaiah in a vision is caught up to the throne of God, and he hears on angel calling out to another, "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts." This vision and passage has been an inspiration for thousands of Jewish and Christian believers. I hope the selected rendering inspires you too!
